With the wick fired up
And the flame lighted up
The melting wax dripped down the side
A drop spilled on her hand
And with a gasp she threw it aside
Near the curtains did it land
It took her a moment to realize
But she would just stand
Staring at the flames rising up
Flaring, the room it spanned
Charring her freshly painted pink walls
The flame had surrounded her in a band.
She suddenly heard his loud calls
She felt him hurriedly grasp her hand
Fire spread to engulf her up
And fainting on his arms did she land
With a startle she woke up
Looked at the candle burning in it's stand
Smiled and lit up
She had her escape all planned.
